Welcome to the New Website—Now Featuring a Blog!

It’s been a month of firsts—starting with my first collaboration with Elevate OM to refresh and rebuild the business website. And, surprisingly, my first time using AI! Microsoft Copilot has proven a useful companion, helping draft content quickly and efficiently. So thank you, Microsoft.

Alongside the digital upgrades, I’ve been busy with routine fire safety work. Recent assessments include:

– Apartment blocks: fire risk assessments

– A place of worship: fire risk assessment

– Warehouse and office spaces: fire risk assessments

– A range of farm buildings: multiple assessments

– Fire door inspections across various premises

Another first—well, a return to an area I haven’t worked in for some time—a DSEAR assessment. I’ve been back in learning mode, working with a friend and former service colleague to survey a plant dealing with explosive dusts. It’s been a great opportunity to revisit the fundamentals and tap into his practical expertise on surveying buildings and plant. Lower explosive limits, surface temperatures, zone classifications, equipment standards, maintenance, cleaning protocols, explosion relief panels… all part of the puzzle.

I plan to make this a regular feature—sharing thoughts on fire safety events, compliance issues, and occasionally dipping into health and safety, another string to my bow.

Next up, I’ll be posting about fire resisting doors—and more importantly, why it’s critical to engage competent professionals. I’ll include some photographic evidence of how poorly these doors can be fitted by those without the right expertise.

That’s all for now—it is Saturday afternoon after all. Keep an eye out for future posts covering fire safety insights, compliance tips, and more.
